Our Story

Three generations of passion, rooted in Staffordshire soil

A Family Business, Grown from the Ground Up

It all started in 1954, when Philemon Edwards took a gamble and began a market garden at Johnson Hall in Eccleshall. His passion for plants and honest approach to business, with the help and support of his wife and 5 children, laid the foundations for what Edwards Garden Centres would become.

Over seven decades later, our philosophy has remained unchanged: grow top quality plants at affordable prices, paired with honest, knowledgeable and friendly customer service. In 1985, the family expanded with a second site at Bury Bank near Stone, which opened to the public in 1998 managed by son Michael Edwards.

Today, the third generation carries the torch. Grandson Greg Roberts manages The Walled Nursery while Grandson Ben Edwards manages Bury Bank, keeping the same family values and love of growing that Philemon started with all those years ago.
